RpB in Near East 2005 - Syria 2 - Damascus revisited
I spent some last days in Damaskus, shopping and enjoying this city (which I hadn't on the first encounter).
Its Anne and Mike!
They were just leaving the hotel when I came (see St.Simeon Basilica):
This street shows the city mountain in the background... two minutes after the picture was taken a guy stopped and asked "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?". He had lived in Frankfurt for 12 years and had come back to take care of his old parents. The only German speaking guy I met in Syria...
My favorite car:
View from the mountain onto Damaskus:
The mosque is visible in the centre of the fourth picture.
The war memorial:
I got completely out of the city, this memorial stands on the highway intersections where young obscured men deal with drugs.
The war museum:
The national museum:
I really like to know who created these sexy nymphomanics...
The souq:
The japanese:
In all of Near East, I virtually met no Japanese. In Damaskus, I met a dozen of them, all on independent trips, and all in the same hotel. These two, Han and Miki, gave me company on my last evening in Damascus.
