RpB in Near East 2005 - Syria - Palmyra
This is again a place where I completely flipped out taking pictures:
Children playing:
The first picture of the ruins:
A scarab:
The interior and exterior of the tombs:
The temple of Bel:
Recycling in ancient times:
These arabian chicks apparently wanted to be fotographed, they didn't move until I had taken the picture...
This somehow reminded me of Pisa...
The Roman Theatre:
The stone deteriorates differently than in Petra and Jerash...
Dunno:
The Arch:
A taxi?
The obligatory crusader castle of Palmyra:
View from the castle:
Watch out!
In the castle, I went into this utterly dark room, and almost tripped into this hole...
Clouds in the desert:
A gorgeous sunset:
The next day...
... I got up a 6.30 and took pictures:
I wasn't the only early bird...
Of the 16 columns of the tetrapylon, only one is not fake...
Note how I placed the castle on top of the roman ruins...
A football field with scenery...
